Get your Pink out...

My name is Jody Latimer and I am one of the Head Coaches on the 6th grade C team.  Mary Ellen Gilbert and I, with the support of  Masco Youth Football & Cheerleading, have organized a Cancer Awareness weekend for our teams on October 6th and 7th.  On this weekend the players and cheerleaders will wear pink in honor of those who have lost their battle with cancer, those inflicted with it today and to also raise awareness for a cure.

The coaches of your teams will give each player a pair of pink socks, wristbands and shoe-laces for them to wear at their respective games that weekend.  This is not mandatory and your player is not required to participate if they do not wish to do so.  For those that do participate, I am asking for a minimum donation of $5.00 for each player to help offset the cost of the pink clothing.

I would request one parent volunteer to be the contact person for each team to help coordinate with me the delivery of the pinks, collect donations from their respective teams and secure baked goods donations for the games that weekend.  If you would like to volunteer please contact Mary Ellen Gilbert @

Throughout the weekend, we will also have silent auctions, 50/50 raffles, and sell baked goods to raise money for this important cause.  If anyone has any ideas or items they wish to donate please contact me directly.  A table will be setup at the Pye Brook field on Saturday October 6th and one at the Masco High School field for games on October 7th.

Donations can be made via cash, checks or credit card payments.  Please make checks out to “The Jimmy Fund”.  For donations made with a credit card please go to .  100% of the net donations will go to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston through the Pan Mass organization.

Thank you all for your support.  It will be a great weekend.
