UCA NATIONALS 2016!

One Team, One Dream - UCA Nationals Competition, Orlando

Masco JVA and C teams combined forces to compete in the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida on February 6th. The team placed 7th in the country in the Junior Rec Division and proudly showed everyone their Masco spirit! We would like to thank our sponsors for helping to make our dream a reality  - we couldn't have done it without your generosity and support, and for that we are truly grateful. Thank you for believing in us, we hope we made you proud!

This experience also wouldn't have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our coaches, Tracy Finocchiaro and Michele Gaudin, and all of our parents and friends who cheered us on all season and offered their endless support as we persevered to reach our goal.  We can't thank you enough for all you have done. It's been an amazing journey - Go Masco!

Note: Football game schedules can be found under football tab. Coaches will inform squads of any changes to game times.

Cape Ann Youth Football League Competition, November 14, 2015

What a way to end the season!  Once again MYC had an impressive run at the CAYFL competition, with all seven of our squads turning out amazing performances!  We're so proud of what they've accomplished this season - we definitely went out on a high note! (see pics below).

The day started off with a performance by our Mascot squad- first time on the mat this season!  Not only were they adorable, they showed off their big skills and earned themselves a 2nd place trophy! Way to go!  JVD and D squads were next, and although their placements didn't result in a trophy, their fun routines earned them roars of appreciation from the crowd and their hard work and their enthusiasm shone through for all to see. Congratulations on a job well done!

In the second session of the day, our JVC team came out and showed off a well-choreographed routine that earned them 3rd place, and C team showed up their competition with a tight peformance that earned them a well-deserved 1st place trophy.  Our JVA girls once again held their own against some tough competition, and showed off their skills with an energetic performance that earned them a 2nd place trophy. Last but not least, to end the day, and their career with MYC, our A team brought the gym down with an incredible and exciting performance that blew away their competition, earning them not only the 1st place tropy, but Grand Champions as well.  It was such a great day and we were so happy to be part of the excitement. We can't wait to see what next season brings -we're looking forward to more success in the future!  Go Masco!

New England Cheer and Dance Competition, Boston, November 7, 2015

Four of our squads - A, JVA, C and JVC - competed in the NE Cheer and Dance Competition and once again brought their impressive skills to the mat.  A Squad took 3rd place in their division with an amazing routine that definitely challenged their tough competition.  JVA Squad, despite being plagued by a few injuries, earned themselves an impressive 2nd place in their division, less than one point behind the first place winner! C Squad brought home 2nd place in their division amid some stiff competition, and JVC Squad took 4th place in their division, clearly showing off all the hard work they've done in the last few weeks.  In addition, A, JVA and C squads won bids to compete at Nationals in Florida in February. Congratulations girls we knew you could do it!  Kudos to all 4 teams, let's keep it going! Cape Ann here we come!

"Cheer For A Cure" Invitational - Ipswich High School, October 24, 2015

Four of our squads competed at the "Cheer For A Cure" invitational on October 24th and once again our girls impressed the crowds with their mad cheering skills! Our D squad started off the day, and they did a fantastic job in their first competition of the year.  Kudos to them for giving it their all and working so well as a team!  Our JVC and C squads each took home trophies for their efforts, with JVC taking third place in their division and C team winning first place in theirs!  An outstanding accomplishment for both teams - congratulations!  Our JVA squad impressed with an exciting and sharp routine that earned them high praise and fourth place among some very tough competition. So proud of the enthusiasm and skill that they brought to the mat! Thank you to the Ipswich cheer organization who did a great job coordinating the event - we were very proud to be there for such a worthy cause!

Season Premiere, Bedford, NH October 17th

Our JVD and JVA squads competed in Bedford this weekend - our first competition of the season! Our JVA team took 2nd place in their division - an amazing performance among some very tough competition!  Although the JVD squad didn't place this time around, they are to be commended for executing such a fantastic performance their first time out this season. It takes a lot to get out there and perform in front of a huge crowd and they did it with confidence. Kudos to them!

We're looking forward to seeing more greatness in the coming weeks!  Stay tuned...

PINK WEEKEND! October 10-11, 2015

We would like to extend our thanks to our cheerleaders, coaches and parents for a successful pink weekend in support of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Our cheerleaders wore pink bows, socks and other accessories in support of the cause and MYC collected close to $500 to send to Dana Farber to help support cancer research!

Thank you to all who donated and helped support this very worthy cause.  And thank you all for your continued support of MYC!

Sincerely,

Lisa and Tracy

FNL a success!

The cheerleaders were amazing last night, and all we heard after the show was high praise for how in sync the girls were, and that it was "the best halftime show ever".  The crowd was truly impressed, as were the varsity cheerleaders, and we can't thank Lynne Bermudez and her assistant coaches, Cass McMahon and Leanne Mihalchik enough for putting together such a fantastic routine.  It's not an easy task to coordinate 130 girls in the short amount of practice time that all the squads had together, so congratulations on a job more than well done.

Thank you too, to all of our coaches and student coaches who work so diligently with the girls at practice, their efforts and patience with the girls definitely showed. And how about our Mascots? Not only were they adorable, they did an unbelievable job holding up their side of the "M"- kudos to them! Thank you to our balloon holders too - the crowd loved the "extra touch". Great job on such a fun way to end the show!

We couldn't do half of what we do without the support of our parents and other volunteers who help us along the way.  Your efforts and your interest are very much appreciated.  The video will be posted on the MYC Facebook page and you can check it out below.

We're looking forward to seeing more amazing things as the season rolls along.  Enjoy your weekend.  Go Masco!

MASCO Dominates at Cape Ann! (2014)

I can't begin to express how unbelievably proud I am of each and every one of our teams. We had an impressive showing at all sessions and, more than ever, we are the program to beat!

First session earned us 2nd places finishes for our JVD and D teams. Both were amazing and went out there and did their very best! Great job girls! Congrats!

Second session JVC and C teams placed 1st. C team took it one step further and earned Grand Champions! Our Mascots, in all their adorableness, came in 2nd out of 5 teams! Congrats to all these teams.

Finally, in the third and final session of the day, we made our mark on the Cape Ann League! JVA secured 1st place with an impressive showing and A team brought it home with 1st place, Game Day and Grand Champions! From what I'm told, A team's score of 96 is the highest in Cape Ann history! What a way to end a season!
